Christopher D. Norek, Ph.D.

Christopher D. Norek, Ph.D. is a founding Senior Partner with Chain Connectors, Inc., an Atlanta-based supply chain consulting firm specializing in overall supply chain strategy, transportation strategy, technology, returns management and training. He has been in the logistics field for over 20 years both in industry with Accenture, Kimberly-Clark, Apple Computer, and CSC Consulting as well as in academia as a professor at both Auburn University and the University of Tennessee.

He has significant experience in leading strategy and operations projects in many areas of supply chain management including overall supply chain strategy, supply chain organizational development, transportation strategy and negotiations, import/export operations, supply chain technology/software, distribution network design, inventory strategy, and returns management. Dr. Norek has consulted for firms including Lowe’s, SAP, amazon.com, Accenture, Office Depot, Cingular Wireless, The Sports Authority, Party City, Chatsworth Products, Tremco Group, Aramark Uniform Services, Malt-O-Meal Companies and Medicis.

Dr. Norek has been active in publishing for journals in the field including Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management Review, Logistics Quarterly (LQ), DC Velocity, and ASCET. He is on the editorial advisory board of Logistics Quarterly (LQ) and DC Velocity and is an outside reviewer for the Journal of Business Logistics. He is also on the faculty of the Masters in International Intermodalism program at Denver University as well as Georgia Tech’s Executive Masters in International Logistics (EMIL) program.

In addition, he is a frequent speaker for many organizations and university executive development programs including the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP—formerly the Council of Logistics Management), National Strategic Shipper Transportation Council (NASSTRAC), and Georgia Institute of Technology. He is currently the Education Chair and second Vice President for NASSTRAC as well. Dr. Norek holds a B.S. in Business Logistics from Penn State, an M.B.A. with a concentration in logistics and transportation from the University of Tennessee, and M.A.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from The Ohio State University in logistics and transportation.

Jeff Girard

JEFF GIRARD is currently the Vice President of Distribution & Direct Fulfillment for DSW Inc. Jeff assumed this role in January 2010. Prior to this, Jeff served as the Vice President of Distribution & Transportation for DSW Inc. and has 20+ years in the logistics industry.

Jeff received his BSBA in Business Management and Marketing from Franklin University. Jeff’s experience includes transportation management, managing multiple Distribution / Fulfillment centers, project management for Distribution Center construction and startups, material handling design, procurement and implementation, multiple WMS implementations, multiple labor management implementations, and transportation network design.

Jeff has been with DSW Inc. since 1997. Prior to that, he spent 10 years at UPS as an Industrial Engineer and various assignments in operations. Jeff has been active in many professional organizations. He is currently a member of the Columbus Region Logistics Council and is a past president of this CSCMP Columbus roundtable

Michael Knemeyer

Michael was awarded the 2006 ISM Senior Research Fellowship, which is intended to support emerging scholars. His work has been accepted for publication in major journals, including Harvard Business Review, California Management Review, Journal of Business Logistics, the International Journal of Logistics Management, Transportation Journal, Journal of Supply Chain Management and International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management. Michael’s research has also been cited in leading practitioner journals such as World Trade Magazine and the Wall Street Journal. Michael also serves on the board of examiners for the AST&L certification program and CSCMP’s education strategies committee.

Roger W. Kallock

The Honorable Roger W. Kallock was first appointed Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Logistics) in May 1998 and then was nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate as Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Logistics & Materiel Readiness) in September 2000.

As the DUSD (L&MR), Mr. Kallock was the principal advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics) for policy and oversight of the military departments’ logistics activities that annually cost taxpayers over $80B. He also oversaw policy for the Department of Defense (DoD) in the specific functional areas of materiel management, maintenance, transportation, and logistics information systems, together with electronic commerce/electronic data interchange. His extensive orientation to the defense community included: visits to over 60 military locations worldwide, congressional testimony, and keynoting many DoD logistics industry group meetings.

Since leaving DoD, Mr. Kallock founded Chagrin Consulting Associates and has focused his attention on issues relating to Change Leadership in Supply Chain management. From his unique private sector/military logistics leadership experience, his passion is to accelerate the rate of sharing between military and private sector logisticians. In conjunction with Penn State’s Center for Supply Chain Research, he has participated in US Marine Corps logistics education programs on the subject of Change Leadership since 2001. He has also given presentations on the subject of Change Leadership in Supply Chain management to educational, government and industry organizations.

Before joining the DoD, Mr. Kallock was a Managing Partner at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). Prior to CSC, he was co-founder and chairman of Cleveland Consulting Associates (CCA), one of the world’s earliest advocates for integrating logistics management functions with information technology. At CCA, he assisted clients in improving supply chain related business processes including distribution, transportation, manufacturing planning, and customer service.

Over his career, Mr. Kallock has focused on the implementation of reengineered supply chain business processes and supporting information technology in a wide variety of industries including: computer products, consumer goods, health care, pulp and paper, and steel products. Other clients also included air, rail, truck and water carriers as well as third party logistics firms.

A native of Ware, Massachusetts, Mr. Kallock and wife Gail are long time residents of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Both are graduates of the University of Michigan with Mr. Kallock earning a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1961. He remains active in the integration of engineering and business education today as a member of the Industry Advisory Board of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations at Michigan. In October 2001, he received the Engineering Alumni Society Merit Award in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Kenny McDonald

Kenny serves as the chief economic officer of the Columbus2020! initiative, the 8-county regional economic growth strategy. He leads all economic development efforts for the organization. He also serves as the senior vice president for the Columbus Partnership, a regional leadership group for central Ohio.

McDonald has an extensive background in site selection, regional economic development, community marketing, business recruitment and international business development. Previously, McDonald had served seven years as the executive vice president of the Charlotte Regional Partnership, a public-private economic development organization covering a 16 county region in North and South Carolina. McDonald’s 15 years of economic development experience also include leadership positions at the Albuquerque Economic Development Corporation, Fluor Corporation and the Savannah Economic Development Authority.

McDonald received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Dickinson State University and a Masters in Public Administration from Georgia Southern University. He also holds the professional designation of Certified Economic Developer, (CeCD) awarded through the International Economic Development Council.

McDonald, his wife, Jennifer and three school-aged children live in Central Ohio.
