How did Fed-Ex grow so rapidly in a competitive market controlled by UPS and USPS to become a dominate player in parcel while driving out such firms as DHL from the US?

How did Walmart and Carrefour grow to become the dominate global retailers while entrenched players such as Sears now struggle to survive?

How did Ford manage to avoid bankruptcy and continue to drive higher profits while GM and  Chrysler strain to move beyond bankruptcy even though they negotiated better labor terms out of bankruptcy?

Of course there are a variety of causes but one of the key differentiators between the winners and the losers is the use of Analytics and specifically Mathematical Optimization. Learn more at the November  17th roundtable and discover how companies are using optimization within their Supply Chain to achieve operational excellence to gain a significant competitive advantage. Learn how this technology works, impacts businesses, why it is becoming more pervasive, and how over the next decade will come to define the winners vs. the losers in the marketplace and will become essential capability in the 21st century. This topic is critical for anyone in an analyst/planner role, manager or executive role and students just entering the job marketplace.

About our speaker, Dan Vanden Brink:

Dan has over 20 years of experience in operations and supply chain management across several industry verticals including CPG, Transportation, Electronics, and Industrial. Air Cargo

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Welcome our 2011-2012 sponsor

Jones Lang LaSalle

Join the Columbus Roundtable and Jones Lang LaSalle for our first event of the season!

September 15th, 4-6 pm at the Rickenbacker Terminal

Every shipping method has its perfect place in your transportation arsenal. Air Cargo is a great option and it’s not just for expedited freight. Come learn how companies use Air Cargo to enhance their supply chain.

Speakers:

  • Dave Whitaker, VP, Business Development and Communications at Columbus Regional Airport Authority
  • Ted Stimmel, District Manager, Expeditors International
  • Gary Paine, Past President, Columbus Regional Air Cargo Association

Airlines say they can move their customer’s goods from Asia and Europe through Rickenbacker and distribute it through outstanding trucking networks same day or next day. LCK, as it is known in the industry, offers a great alternative to existing gateways, which are more costly and crowded, thus, allowing time-sensitive goods efficient speed to market.

Join CSCMP on September 15th at the Charter terminal from 4-6 pm to learn more.
